Driving Greener Homes
On the 20 March 2024, the Hertfordshire LEP is hosting a Breakfast Summit at Oaklands College, Hatfield Road, St Albans, AL4 0JA
A must-attend event for Hertfordshire SMEs and tradespeople looking to seize the growth opportunities offered by the retrofit sector. Learn about the free training and grant funding available locally to help you secure new commercial opportunities and future-proof your business.
Hertfordshire’s energy efficiency supply chain, currently worth £1.2bn, is projected to grow to £36bn by 2030, with the employment offered by the sector set to increase by 203% by 2028. Over half of current sales come from the installation of heat pumps, solar PV, ventilation and energy management systems alone. However, with just 157 certified retrofit installers currently operating in the county, the sector provides significant commercial opportunities for businesses seeking new avenues to growth.
Retrofit is key to achieving Government’s Net Zero targets, and in 2023, over £100m of funding was secured in Hertfordshire to make homes warmer and more energy efficient. Retrofit demand is booming, presenting a fantastic opportunity for local businesses and tradespeople looking to secure new contracts and explore avenues to growth, as well as for residents seeking careers with great prospects.
Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) is leading the development of skills vital to accelerating the county’s retrofit capacity and capability. Its Skills Bootcamps and ‘Retrofit: Greener Homes’ grant schemes, will help unlock thousands of green jobs and upskilling opportunities and support employers to launch or expand their retrofit products and services.
